It's not that they "seem" close together. They are close together.
The mean (and median oddly enough) star rating of the last 9 classes is 86.13. That's less than 1/10th of a star lower than the current inflated average star rating 87.09.
You do realize you're differentiating between fractions of a star in an inherently imprecise process? I know society can't resist the urge to rank things these days, but do you really think the star ratings have that kind of precision where you can say 86.95 is "better than" 86.49 or "worse than" 87.24?
What puts it into the proper context is the entire range of VT recruiting's class over the last 10 years is still just half of the gap between VT and its aspirational peers.
