It worked for me, too. When I turned 30, I decided to get healthier...

...and starting eating a similar diet. I didn't look fat, but I had gained 25-30 pounds since college. So I followed the "Paleo diet", which very closely resembled the keto diet. I didn't really exercise or change anything other than my diet, and ended up losing over 40 pounds - much more than I intended to lose - in about 9 months. I went from about 207 to 167 at my thinnest. I actually lost TOO much weight, to the point that people were asking me if I was ill - I'm 6' tall, so at less than 170 pounds I was REALLY skinny. So, eventually I started eating a less strict diet. Six years later, I've gained back about 25 pounds (probably 5-10 pounds more than I'd like), so like you, I'll be getting back to following the "Paleo" diet again after Christmas to drop a few pounds. Hopefully the day will melt away as easily this time, but I'm now closer to 40 years old than I am to 30, so we will see how my metabolism reacts.
