I eventually came up with my own program, which worked for me...

...in the long run. It is a little Paleo, a little Atkins, a little this & a little that. I took a hard look at absolutely everything I shoved down my pie hole, and stayed on program. The most important thing is that I have been able to stay on it for 8+ months losing ~2 lbs/week.

But I was really serious about my diet. I tracked calories, grams of fat, protein & carbohydrates, weight (daily, weekly, & total loss). I also tracked exercise, but that had almost no effect on my weight loss. Diet is the only key to weight loss. You can work out like a maniac all summer and lose weight, but as soon as you become sedentary over the winter, that weight creeps back. If you can maintain a successful diet, you can keep that weight off indefinitely.
