Scouting

I'm no expert, but the ones that nest at my house tend to scout out the box during late fall and early winter. They they get serious about things in late April and May.

My pair had two nesting sessions. Their first one was thwarted by a snake or other predator.

Bluebirds like to have their box at about 5 feet off the ground and face a wide-open area on the edge of a treeline.
