Her most critical point is that the purpose of collegiate athletics was originally to provide a competitive sports experience for the athletes and the student body spectators. That has been turned on its head. We now have collegiate spots as a product to feed, support, and serve the TV organizations on the backs of the athletes.
This sad eventuallity is what the Ivy League must have foreseen when they opted out of the big money rat race. As much as Jim Delaney is immersed in the TV money game, I believe it is the above sentiment that prompted him to say that if we make college athletes paid employees, the B1G will adopt a division 3 format. Apart from that drastic move, I don't see the toothpaste going back into the tube.
