IDK. ND's schedule is typically tough. This year was no different.


They played 10 bowl bound teams of which:

1 was in the CFB playoff (UGa)
4 were in a conference championship game (USC, Stanford, Miami and UGa)
6 were in the top 25 (UGa, USC, Miami FL, MSU, Stanford and NCSU)
4 other teams made bowls (Navy, Temple, Wake Forest and Boston College)
2 teams with losing records (Miami OH & UNC)

I may be way off base, but that doesn't feel,like a cupcake schedule.

I haven't checked the UGa, OU, Clemson or Bama schedules in detail, but I doubt there's were much more difficult. I think UGa's tough games were versus Auburn twice and USC-e. I know OU had to navigate through OSU-e, OSU-c and TCU twice. Clemson had Auburn, VT, NCSU and Miami. Bama had Auburn, LSU and MSU.

As for our Hokies, we played 2 teams that finished in the top 25 prior to our bowl. Our cupcakes were ECU, ODU & Delaware. We also had UNC, GT and Pitt on our schedule who were under .500. Even with the cupcakes, I didn't feel like it was a schedule to apologize for, but it certainly wasn't exactly strong. I certainly couldn't call ND's schedule one full of cupcakes.
