They'd have likely lost more than one game had they made the CFP


but since they didn't, they still got comparable matchups. The ACC only got 2 in the CFP/NY6, so that would be the same as saying they got favorable matchups. The CFP/NY6 basically pulls from the same pool, so it's typically going to be a wash. FWIW, the Big Ten had 4 last year, and did get slotted up slightly in the lower tier bowls. But this year, it isn't really the case.
