One point about the climate modelsis that they work...

The best ones now (the ones that do predict serious effects in the future) have been rigorously validated with data going back decades. In other words, plug in measurable inputs, and they will give the results we have observed over decades. The current models are very good.

Your last paragraph is the tough one, and as a scientist/engineer, it's farther from my area of expertise. I will point out that economics will win. If "green" solutions (solar, wind, hydro, etc.) are developed and become cheaper than coal, etc., then we can change what will happen with the developing nations. So I agree that if the US just switches from coal to solar (for example), but the rest of world does not, it won't make much of a difference. But solar and wind are improving all the time.
