Weight training for novices?

I picked up a real decent weight bench for my 12 year old middle school rassler and myself. I haven't really lifted in 30 years, and my experience was limited to what I got in school. This bench is fully adjustable and has a leg developer. Can do squats and also an attachment to do curls from the leg developer. Can change the angle of the back rest and seat. This is mainly for the boy. He just wants to generally get stronger across the board. He also has a pull-up bar and access to cardio stuff as well.

Where can I look to find some direction? Just looking for an easy to understand program...do this on one day, do this on the next sort of thing. Advice?
