Another wonderful Hokie has passed away
For those that are so inclined, please lift up the family of Terri Jackson Mosley in your prayers. She passed on from this life at the age of 46.
I have been blessed to know Terri all my life and she has also been one of Mrs. Fiji's dearest friends for almost as long. We were classmates from preschool all the way through college. While I was glad to receive one undergraduate degree, Terri graduated with two. (And she later added a master's degree from Tech.)
She could have done anything in the world. She chose to go back home and teach in our native county. She was serving on the faculty of the arch rival of our own high school alma mater when she got sick. (And she knew that I forgave her for that because she did such a great job and touched the lives of all of her students.)
She fought against cancer for too long. She did it with grace and humor -- but make no mistake.... she loved life and she fought like hell to survive.
Some of you may have known her. She was in the flag corps of the Marching Virginians during our undergrad days (1989-1993) and was a proud member of Tau Beta Sigma. And to say that she was a proud Hokie would be a major understatement.
Sorry to ramble. I don't think I have ever tried to do this before. It's just that Terri has always been a part of my personal tribe -- and she was gracious enough to include me and my wife in hers. I'm proud and grateful to claim a connection to her, and every other Hokie should be too.
In the vernacular of our native region, she "done real good" and embodied the spirit of Ut Prosim.
