I am probably going to surprise both of you on this, but

I think the P-4 needs to have 80. I think we are headed to 4 divisions in a conference with 4 teams in them, but I think each division should have 5. However, as I said to Maroon Baboon we are trending more towards 64 than 80 right now.. That could change, but I don't see it trending to 80 right now.

If we go to four divisions in a conference we will play our own division teams every year and rotate with other divisions through a home and away series. That means we play the others at least twice every six years. That's way better than we play now and the teams that go to the conference championship will be the winner of their division and the other division they played that year. In other words, they will win it on the field and not in the opinion polls.
