I was mostly saying the pressure is more about not failing and therefore being labeled as such. Passing is a great motivator....but failing (and the ensuing repercussion) are where the pressure comes from.
Sadly it tends to come down to "playing the game" of SOL pass rates and teaching to the test. As long as the kids are able to regurgitate the data or info on the day of the test then the DOE is happy.
