and one reason why you should. Someone showed a similar chart to me many years ago - you can always find some reason to be concerned. But over time, the economic forces driving the stock market will rack up some nice returns. If you invested $10,000 on Sept 1,2007 (just before the great recession), it would have sunk to about $6k in 2009, but would be worth about $27k now. But everyone has different tolerances for volatility, and you have to be able to sleep at night.
