Look into the Newspring Church connection with Clemson and their former pastor Perry Noble. They give to "needy" recruits/players and the general public, as that is the church's mission. The church decides which recruits/players are needy. We shouldn't be so naive to think this doesn't go on. I have friends that played division 1 sports and they told me stories about gifts of money. It happens everywhere. Some just do it better/more than others.
