I believed the same thing at that age. However, I’ve been shown the numbers
of theoretical portfolios of 100% stocks versus those with a small percentage of bonds, say 10%. Those with the bonds perform better over time. Basically, the booms are better with 100% stocks but the busts are also worse. These bigger setbacks over the long term actually reduce your overall long term performance.
