You see better wrestlers do this all the time in high school (sometimes even manipulating their weight to essentially move up two weight classes) just for entertainment value and bragging rights over some kid from the same district, but it seems a lot more rare at the D1 level - especially by guys ranked this high. Kudos to Gross for wanting that challenge and kudos to Meredith for not backing away from it. He could have bumped up himself to avoid Gross, and he did have more to lose as the bigger guy. Just really happy they made it happen and it lived up to the hype.
