This is an absolutely ignorant opinion that is just pulled out of thin air.

Fact: there are 38 people on the board of trustees, not a small number.

I and everyone I know here does not believe Joe Paterno was a saint! They speak of him, much like we do of Frank Beamer, positively in terms of football longevity and commitment to VT.

But back to what you are basically saying...his son Jay Paterno should NOT have been elected as a trustee by an "unrepentant" town because he should have known what his father knew BEFORE everything went public in 2011? Perhaps you are right and he was not elected unanimously

You also believe that Jay should have known about the scandal because he not only was on the football staff, but he was also Joe's son?

Let me ask you...Do you know everything that your father knew, much less did? NO. So you should not be held responsible for his actions or thoughts, should you?

Also, I am so glad there are not more people out there that think like this, because Va. Tech and Blacksburg is not totally clean when it comes to scandals, is it? And I have grieved when I have heard about VT athletes either involved in substances, abuse or rape. And when another fan base uses that against us, it disappoints me because I know that it does not reflect the majority of those at VT or Blacksburg.

The simple fact is...that State College is ALOT like Blacksburg! A small town in the middle of the state where a very large campus/university dominates the landscape and press. It even looks and feels like Tech. And people here, like a Sandusky, can use this power that they accumulate for either good or pure evil.

To everyone else...you can like or hate Joe Paterno, but it is not an easy conclusion to paint with such a broad stroke that he is either all good or all bad. Yes, his statue was removed in the year after the scandal broke, but his mural with about 50 other PSU greats remains up.

I moved here 2 years ago and I see that this town is still in process with all of this, and as I said in another post, the local community has been and will continue to process how they feel about Paterno.

But the larger fan base which visits here just for 7 weekends a year, cares almost exclusively about PSU football and is still much more loyal in the Paterno corner. And yes, there are still some of those who believe Joe Pa was a saint.
