but people will not pay that kind of money to see minor league games. Most backers of college payouts are boosters that have an emotional interest. It is unlikely people will develop that kind of vested interest in minor league teams the way they do their college teams- at least not for a long, long time.

I've never seen anyone go to any minor league sporting event for the quality of play - it's about loving the game, not being near a major league city, a night of different entertainment and/or the excessive cost of tickets to professional games. I can go to a minor league baseball game for less than a movie - but would never spend what it would take to justify $200K salaries - my everyday entertainment dollar will go elsewhere.
