You could see the players getting frustrated with the fouls. Lost composure
Bad calls/Officiating absolutely can change the momentum of a game or even decide the outcome. See Danny Coale's catch vs. Michigan, overturned by the booth. Or the bad offensive pass interference call against USC in 2004 that changed the momentum of that game.
And I am sure most of these bad calls are just that, bad calls made in the heat of battle.
But when a Duke player walks three times, in a situation where the change of possession could have resulted in a Tech victory, and the ref is right there. Well you have to wonder sometimes.
And I tell you watching ACC games is tedious, with all the fouls called. There is no flow to them and the refs inject themselves into the action WAY too much. And they can't be criticized? There is no mechanism to get real feedback and improve.
And how does this help the product?? It doesn't. And it's not fair to kids and coaches and fans who invest time & sweat & money into a program only to have the refs dictate things.
