Thoughts about conference tournaments...

I would like to see them change the timing of the conference tournaments. I know they are a money grab, but here are my thoughts. Maybe you play them either in November or just before conference play begins. Use the previous year's records for seedings. Once you have a champion, then the regular season conference games happen. At the end of the season, if the tournament winner is the same as the regular season winner, that team gets the bid. If not, the conference can then have a 1-game championship game either at a neutral site or have the conference decide if the tourney winner hosts or regular season. I would prefer to have the conference tourneys during the time the kids are of on winter break - maybe even just after New Year's Day to avoid competing w/ the bowl games. I would also think about spreading the tournament out to where a team doesn't have to play back-to-back nights...or at worst, have a situation where they may only have to play 1 back-to-back night. I am surprised no one has brought up about it being a safety concern since the NBA players fought to not have many back-to-back games. For the ACC tourney, I would get rid of the byes except for the #1 seed (since the seeding is based on previous year's results). Maybe even have it where it is set up that losing teams can still play each other - or versus losing teams of other conferences to help build up resumes for at-larges.
