No worries. For whatever reason I have noticed people

on here, other message boards, and even during conversation make the mistake of saying "DII" when referring to DI-FCS football. The other thing I have notice is people (including reporters) will often say "move up" when switching from FCS to FBS or "move down" when switching from FBS to FCS as if the subdivisions are not both DI.

It is my understanding the reason the NCAA switched from DI-A, DI-AA, and DI-AAA (schools that don't sponsor football) to DI-FBS and DI-FCS is because the NCAA wanted to do a better job of branding both subdivisions as being DI football. I guess the mission wasn't accomplished. Ironically if DI-FBS and DI-FCS did end up becoming 2 subdivisions, then the NCAA would regain the control over the postseason for the DI-FBS. It is unclear whether the NCAA would continue with the current postseason structure or change to something else. What is clear, based on how things are done in DII and DIII, is that any Playoff ran by the NCAA would mean each conference would receive an automatic bid for the conference champion. I am pretty sure the power conferences don't want to see that happen.
