Chaminade was still bigger of an upset

The 1 vs 16 win for UMBC is a first and that's a big deal, but I don't think it ranks in the top 3 of biggest NCAA upsets and it's not in the top 5 of all time U.S sports upsets and here's why in my opinion.....

1. No truly dominant powerhouse teams today because of the 1 and done formula.

2. Chaminade beat a one ranked UVA team that had 3 High School All Americans on it. Check this out, Chaminade was NAIA. They weren't mid major or small Div 1. They weren't even Div 2! They were NAIA and that's crazy. This was a bigger upset.

3. Villanova over Gtown and some of the 15 seeds over the 2 seeds years ago were even bigger when they occurred before the one and done era when there was much larger separation between a 2 and 15 seed back then compared to today.

4. Chaminade actually beat a 12th ranked Louisville team a year or two after the UVA win. This got little press, but statistically, just improbable and near impossible, bit it happened.

5. Our society today is very emotion based or emotion filled when reaching a conclusion. The "newness" of the UVA loss has at least clouded a little bit or some of the past insane upsets mentioned in this thread. I'm also not downplaying the recent upset. It's way up there in all time upsets, but I don't have it top 3.

Last of all, the USA win over the Soviets in 1980 in my opinion, is the biggest upset in the history of all sports. Even Douglas over Tyson doesn't compare. I put Chaminade over Virginia at number two. Only my opinions...
