My concern about practices "not tackling to ground" is the first two games
Beamer and Foster had the team ready to go from a physical perspective. If the kids don't practice it, they have to adjust during games. I'm hoping they do some of it in practice.
For a while I was staying near a lineman that played for years for Marty Schottenheimer with the Skins and another team. He said the practices were all full contact, which gave them an advantage. However, I wondered if that is why is teams struggled in play-offs, because they might have been tired and beat-up.
