This is fair but I think most people don't see the big upside either
I understand he *may* have been injured, but does that really account for the downward trend in performance? My biggest knock has been the decision making - both him with the ball and with the offense play calling if he was indeed injured. As a fan, I have a hard time connecting all the pieces together to say definitively that his "poor play" was a result of injury. And, the comment about playing a backup if we had a decent one is speculation unless I missed a post where the coaches have said that. It seems more likely that his injuries really didn't impact his playing potential much so the coaches didn't see a need to make a switch.
