The topic came up in another thread after I made the assertion that we are currently paying Bud about half of his actual market value. It would not have been conducive to that conversation to continue discussing it so I am starting this thread. Currently Bud makes 950K with bonuses and is one of the top 5 DC's in every FBS ranking list that comes out. So lets look at the other guys who names come up regularly and see how their pay stacks up.

Dave Aranda-LSU=$1.8 mil
Brent Venables-Clemson=$1.7 mil
John Chavis-Arkansas=$1.55 mil
Don Brown-Michigan=$1.4 mil
Bob Shoop-MissST=(can't find it but was making $1.16 mil at TN)
Todd Grantham-Florida=$1.49 mil this year
Todd Orlando-TX=$1.7 mil
Mike Elko-TX A&M=$1.8 mil

Based on these salaries I don't think it is a stretch to say that Bud stays at VT because he loves the school and area. It is fair to say that Bud's market value as a top DC is in the 1.8 mil range.
