IF Notre Dame were to ever enter the conference.

I think we could see a swap to North-South divisions. Especially given that I think WVU would be the counterpart to enter the league. Then you could have

North
Boston College
Syracuse
Pittsburgh
Notre Dame
West Virginia
Louisville
Virginia Tech
Virginia

South
North Carolina
NC State
Wake Forest
Duke
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida State
Miami

Those are very clean divisions that keep the natural rivalries intact (including reintroducing ND-BC, VT-WVU, and WVU-Pitt). Those divisions also keep a few great programs in one division (Clemson, Florida State, Miami, and occasionally NC State) and a few great programs in the other (Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, and occasionally Pittsburgh and Louisville). The possible FSU-Miami ACCCG is gone (but now that the ACCCG isn't in Florida anymore, that isn't a huge deal IMO). You DO have the possibility of ND-FSU, VT-Miami, VT-Clemson, ND-Clemson, etc which are VERY high profile games.

That said, ND is still AT LEAST 10 years away from joining a conference. I think it will happen eventually. The question is when (10 years? 20 years?) and which conference.
