Radio interview with CJF today.. (sorry for the length)

I live out in Oklahoma City and so I was pleasantly surprised to turn on my radio during lunch to a local sports talk (ESPN affiliated) station during the middle of an interview with a coach. I thought the voice of the coach they were interviewing sounded familiar and then heard it was CJF at the ACC Media Day. Wish I could have heard the entire interview. He was extremely excited about last year's recruiting class as well as the '19 class so far. He said that when his offense is fully implemented and operational it will be an offense that "any high school quarterback in the country will be excited to operate". He also expressed great confidence in JJ's ability and maturity and hinted that this will be a break-out year for JJ. He said that while there has been a great deal of turnover in the defense he is confident the talent is there and coming in from the '18 class to be successful with Bud's coaching. Wish I could have caught the interview from the beginning; but as it was an ESPN reporter there may be a podcast somewhere to download.
A local (Okc) sports guy on this station who has kept up with Fuente since he was a QB at OU expressed great confidence that Fuente is becoming a BIG TIME head coach will have great success at VT; considers him a can't miss head coach. Also the ESPN reporter said that he likes Tech's chances better than some prognosticators this season. He feels that its better to have a solid, experienced front D line with a young secondary than the other way around. He thinks our schedule sets up well. We catch FSU in Taggart's first game and that their players will not yet be at all acclimated to his offense and that it will take some time for their Offensive Line (which he said has suffered the last couple of years) to improve under new coaching; and then points out that virtually all other big games are in the friendly confines of Lane Stadium.

He also noted that Bronco Mendenhall was the most intriguing ACC coach to interview because of his "unique" way of expressing himself with the technical jargon but in a blunt form and expressed admiration for Mendenhall "turning a dumpster fire of a program" around in one year. The dumpster fire may have died down but the ashes are still simmering a bit I think..
Finally, the ESPN reporter said that the general consensus among ACC media people for a dark horse in the league (apart from Clemson which he indicated is miles ahead of everyone else) is Georgia Tech with a lot of experience at key positions; and, that Miami will not fully get over the hump and be a very serious threat to either Clemson or Florida State until they have a star QB in place.
