How is this any different than an entrepreneur dropping out for work?

School pays an athlete to be there for sports; Harvard gives a full ride to a kid with average grades because he created a promising app.

Football player uses school resources and exposure to prepare themselves for their future career, an opportunity arises after a setback to make that future happen. HBS student uses professors to make connections and lands a meeting with an angel investor, gets offered an investment and bails on the school as fast as possible.

In both cases the subject uses the school for personal gain, as all students should be doing (that's the whole point of college). They can also both return to school at any time to complete their studies if the desire.

Maybe my viewpoint is skewed because of capitalism or something, but I don't see any issue with this.
