I think the possibility that JJ ever starts again is actually pretty large.

I just don't think Fuente is comfortable with Ryan Willis. Fuente's mantra of "expected outcomes" is very important to him, and with JJ you get expected outcomes. Even Willis's good plays are not "expected outcomes."

His interception into triple coverage was not an expected outcome. His two passes into coverage on the 98-yard drive were risky throws that almost got him burned -- not an expected outcome. His 4th and 9 scramble for a first down was not an expected outcome -- that was a pass play, not a QB run.

I think Willis, over time, will give Fuente ulcers. If Willis improves greatly with playing time, maybe Fuente will start getting more comfortable with him. But if JJ was magically healthy again tomorrow, I think Fuente would put him right back in the starting lineup.

To sum it up: I think fans see Willis's higher ceiling and say, "I want that!" I think Fuente sees JJ's ability to operate within the offense and give him "expected outcomes," and says, "I want that!"

I think this is very interesting stuff to watch as it develops.
