I don't follow basketball the closest, but I'm trying to understand the motivation for these early season tourneys. I can't imagine they bring in money (playing neutral site in front of small crowds), they aren't good exposure (11 and 11:30 am weekday games), can't be good for the athletes missing this much class, etc. What role do these tourney's play? Why does VT agree to play in them, etc.
