Notes from Purdue

NAW is a lottery pick, enjoy his time here. Such a great player and somehow still underrated. That will likely change as teams scheme to slow him as opposed to J-Rob/Blackshear

With that said, Carsen Edwards was the best player on the floor last night. But I'm not sure I pick another Purdue player until I've selected Robinson, NAW and Blackshear.

Bede had a really tough assignment, and I'd like to think that affected his offensive performance, but he didn't look as comfortable with open looks or the ball in his hand as he did the prior two games.

Considering the opponent, and how the opponent played, I'm not sure I've seen a better performance by a VT team. VT has certainly played better, and they've beaten better teams, but typically when those teams played poorly. Purdue played pretty well, built a lead, and it just didn't matter. Solid effort on both ends of the floor and the intangibles that make the difference in close games.

Best part about the comeback was that their best ball was played with Blackshear on the bench. This will help with a confidence

(Edit: accidentally hit post)

Will help with their confidence should Blackshear need a breather, get hurt or get into foul trouble. Gives the staff some options in each of those cases as well. And it was good to see an emphasis on "rebounding down" from the guards and wings (guards leaving floating perimeter offensive players to help aid blackout out defenders on the block).

Good to see VT make a run with Ty Outlaw on the floor, despite getting close to nothing from him on either end. If they can hide him until he can find his shot, they'll go a long way toward buying time til Nolley and replacing some minutes from Clarke.

I'd like to re-open the discussion of J-Rob being the best PG in VT history, and will continue to do so for the rest of the season.
