Yes, this is a rivalry. Yes, get excited that you won. Yes, there are crappy fans on both sides. But at the end of the day, choose humility and humanity first. That would mean:

-Not cussing out the VIRGINIA football team in front of a 7 and 9 year old.
-Not flipping the VIRGINIA players parents the bird after a win
-Not spitting on an opposing fan and harassing them all the way back to the car
-Not taking a foam “#1” finger from a 7 year old, ripping it in half and throwing it on the ground
-Not shoving my father
-Not go to church and harass other fans because I guess it feels good to make other people feel badat church.
-Not verbally attack my 12 year old at the Christmas lights because he has the audacity to wear a uva sweatshirt.

If humanity and humility came first, it would make this loss bearable. But to have all of these things happen and then lose is just

If UVA had won yesterday I would have celebrated and not said a word to one of you. But I can’t wait to go to church and get ragged by someone, even though I never talk trash.

Life is bigger than this game. People are sick and hurting and wish that their worries could just be about a “game”. Choose compassion, choose love, because that’s what we are here to do.
