Since when did wins and losses stop meaning anything?

I see all these arguments about expanding the playoff field to 6, 8, or even 16 teams, but at the end of the day does anyone really believe a 9-3 team deserves a shot at the national title? The whole purpose of the system is to find the best team. If a team has already lost 2-3 times are they generally going to be the best team? Georgia has lost twice and at the end of the day has failed to produce the results of a champion while also having a chance to make their case. Why do I need to see the same song and dance again? You could also argue they lost to a 3 loss LSU team. At the end of the day wins and losses need to mean something. We have 4 undefeateds and 2 one loss teams. Why the heck are we even talking about Georgia? Every year someone is going to be butthurt about being left out of the playoff, but expanding the system won’t fix the problem either. In fact it will just add more problems. Maybe next year don’t lose and definitely don’t lose twice.
