I’ve followed from the Allen era until now...

even followed during the Moir era but wasn’t a Tech fan yet. The Allen era wasn’t horrible and it kept my interest for the entirety of most seasons. Bill Foster was a good period, as were the Greenberg and current Buzz eras. The Hussey and Stokes era was a very dark time for Hokie basketball. I lost interest by the end of the Stokes era unless it was a big name team we were playing (even though I knew we’d get smoked). The Johnson era in a strange way didn’t stop me from following Tech basketball; I guess because we were in the ACC and JJ seemed to be recruiting quality character guys. But the JJ teams were tough to watch.

So since 1987 (when I started truly following), I would say the first few years of the 90s and first few years of the 2000s were years that my interest waned. Otherwise, I’ve been a glutant for punishment. Let’s hope that pain pays off this year and in the coming years.

As for Buzz, Whit invested so much in him, plus the fact that he had success at Marquette, has had my intestest since his hire. Being in the ACC helps a lot no matter who the coach is.
