As far as college basketball is concerned, Buzz Williams is Virginia Tech’s Frank Beamer and more. The guy is a brilliant coach, leader and motivator. I will go so far as to say he is a once-in-a-lifetime basketball coach for Virginia Tech.

With that said, thoughts have to be given to keeping him at any cost. Football has been the driver of this school for decades and rightfully so; however, Virginia Tech is what it is and will never be a monetary force in the world of the Power 5. With the recent football trend moving frighteningly south for VT, it is becoming more apparent that it may be easier to compete at a high level in basketball than football. This is true for many factors, but is certainly true in today’s Power 5 football landscape.

So, how do you keep Buzz at any cost? You have to shift a degree of the focus and concentration from football to basketball. I am not sure what Buzz needs/wants/etc.; however, we need to give it to him. We need to fulfill that man’s wishes before we start dumping additional money into Justin Fuente and staff’s go-fund-me account.

I am now fearful that VT will be left with Justin Fuente and a coach-to-be-determined in the near future. That may lead us into across-the-board normalcy in athletics. That would not be good, folks.
