Just my opinion....
Alabama/Saban became so enamored with the new toy(Tua) that they completely ignored what actually built that program and it played right to Clemson's strength. That long quick strike TD to tie the game at 7 was fool's gold for Bama, in my opinion. The top three Bama running backs all averaged around 5 or more yards per carry I think which would seem to indicate to me they were having success running the ball. They were close enough early to continue to run the ball and longer drives had the extra added advantage of keeping the Clemson offense off the field and giving their defense a better rest as well. Even coming out of halftime down 15 they still had that run option I think but, I think they panicked(the fake FG would seem to support that) too early. I was pulling for Clemson, I just think Bama got in unfamiliar territory and made uncharacteristic decisions to try and get back in the game too quick. It is a little reminiscent of the basketball coach reminding his team there are no 15 point shots and the real way you get back in the game is to revert to defense and what you do well and chip away.
