The fact is that if he leaves before getting his degree...


...the odds of him coming back to get it after basketball are pretty low.

Right now he isn't adding any "wear & tear" to his body, so a little delay isn't going to cost him in the long run.

Get the degree first, then worry about the next move afterwards.
