ESPN's note about us giving up the most 3pt attempts in history

On bubble watch ESPN notes that we're on pace to give up the most 3pt attempts in major conference history..

Not sure if this is a good or bad thing, on one hand Buzz's defense is designed to keep teams out of the paint. On the other however, many of those 3's seem to be wide open kick-outs. The numbers seem to support that it's not great, as conference opponents are shooting 36.4% from deep vs us and 38.8% if you remove the NCST game.

That number is alarming, if our conference opponents were an individual team, that average of 38.8% from deep would put them in the top 20 shooting teams in the country on the season. Of note, VT is currently 2nd in 3p% overall at 41.5 but that's dropped to 39% in conference.

Looking bigger picture, we've given up the least amount of 2p shots and the most amount of 3s in conference. We also took the least amount of 2p and the 6th most 3s. Obviously our efficiency lies in our slow pace, as we've given up the 2nd fewest defensive rebounds and 4th fewest offensive. Our steal % is much higher than the average and our PPG given up is 3rd.

We've actually given up the least amount of 2p attempts and makes in the country throughout the season and rank in the top 5 in FT attempts against, which is interesting to me
