Whit may need to act fast

Saw tonight that UCLA has given up on trying to get Jamie Dixon due to his large buyout clause. Mick Cronin is their second choice and now they may well go after him. Alabama is also considering Cronin and Thad Matta (who reportedly visited them recently) for their vacancy. If Whit wants Cronin he can't wait too long on this. If you read the articles on how Cronin resurrected Univ of Cincinnati after Huggins trashed it (and apparently Huggins was fired from there) it's really quite remarkable what he did in a relatively short period of time. Also I believe Cronin's prof bio says that UC has sent something like 6 players to the NBA over time.
If you read the articles on Kevin Willard of Seton Hall you see that it took him five mediocre season to resurrect that program although it appears he was dealing with lousy facilities and prior coaches who brought that program down and a lack of commitment, at first, by the univ. administration to really help. Yes, he has been to the NCAAs 4 times in a row but has, I believe, an NCAA record of 1-4. They got to the NCAAs this season with a 20-14 record as they won the BE tourney in a year when Nova was down. A couple of years ago when Pitt was looking for a new coach they didn't even consider Willard, who is a Pitt alumnus I think. I'm not trying to trash Willard, he seems like a good guy but he doesn't seem to be the type of coach who can come right in and turn things around quickly if they are going south.
