Does Mike Young have the ability to do what Tony Bennett has done?

There are a few things about the long term success of Tony Bennett that would be nice if VT could follow.

1. Has a unique system that they stick to that is counter to how everybody else is doing it.
2. While he might not be there forever, through his tenure to date, you can't imagine the head coach leaving. And by doing so, is able to build a healthy continuity that even the bluest of the blue bloods don't have at present.
3. He can establish a program where quality players come and want to be there for the long run. Quality enough to win, but loving the school and wanting to stay and graduate. Not looking to transfer, or follow a coach, or declare for the NBA early when they aren't really ready.

Anyway, if you look at Villanova (recent two titles) and Virginia, they have a great coach and veteran players. These schools are places that the players genuinely seem to want to attend. I'm not saying we don't have people like this, because we do. But at these schools, if seems more common throughout their roster.

Anyway, if this is Whit's objective--with stability coming from a Southwest Virginia guy who loves Tech Basketball, then I see the value in it and fully support it. If he can recruit kids talented enough to compete and loyal enough to stay, it could be awesome.
