Yes I know players, in their minds, commit more to the coach than the schoo

But they do sign a letter of intent to the school.

And the Buzz situation seems a bit unique to me as well in that it APPEARS that he planned this move beforehand. While under contract to VT, if he already knew he was going to Texas A&M, was his behavior fully ethical?

It's one thing of Cincinnati's top recruit follows Cronin to UCLA. A job opening came up, Cronin took it, and now his job is to get the best players for UCLA by any legitimate means he can Nothing unethical there.

But if Buzz had some sort of tacit agreement to go to A&M for a year, and was recruiting players to Tech that would fit the Aggies' needs... To me that is unethical, I don't care how many tweets about God and Jesus he makes.

In another thread someone said he had a couple JuCo guys make official visits to Blacksburg (which are paid for by the VT athletic department). He didn't offer them then but he has now offered them at A&M. When they visited and met with him, was he extolling the virtues of Blacksburg?

I know the entire business of college basketball is corrupt and seedy, but I think there are certain ethical standards and I also think that there are actually some coaches out there that adhere to them. And it really feels to me that Buzz crossed a line and was at least partially working for the benefit of another school while taking millions from us. I'm sure he was smart enough to cover his tracks so it can never be proven.

I look back over the 6 coaches that preceded Williams here. Most of them weren't very good coaches but I think they were all pretty ethical, and it certainly looks like Young is too. It's a shame we had to Wade into the slime to have the greatest success in our program's history, but I guess that's how college basketball works.
