CMY interview with Jon Rothstein

Listened to the interview with CMY tonight by Jon Rothstein and it was very interesting. This is really the first time we have heard from Mike other than the introductory press conference. Some impressions I have:
1. He is very optimistic that Bede will stay. He said he met with Bede's family last week in Boston (which explains why Bede had not yet withdrawn from the portal- first wanted his family to meet Mike) and that the visit went very well
2. It seemed to me that he thinks KB is likely gone. He effusively complimented Kerry on his tenure at Tech as a player and a student but he, at one point, said that Kerry "had" (not has) a great career at Tech, and only wants to be supportive of Kerry's decision, whatever that may be.
3. He said that he hopes to add "a couple" of more recruits that he is after in this cycle. Also said that following Buzz is a positive/advantage not a negative/disadvantage as the younger players now want to make their mark on the program and prove themselves.
4. Said that as impressed as he was with the new assistant coaches when he hired them he is genuinely even more impressed with them after seeing them work.
5. Was very upbeat, and did not state that there will be a transition or rebuilding phase. Now we know there will be but he doesn't sound like he is looking for an excuses not to succeed early on.

Finally, personality wise he reminds me somewhat of CFB when Frank started. Very positive, a gentleman, down-to earth (not hard to understand) clearly is thrilled to be at VT, knows the competition will be tough but looks on it as a challenge he wants.
