Great story on Bart Starr
the Packers were playing Oakland in Super Bowl II, The Raiders had a (then) really big defensive lineman, Ben Davidson, who was like 6-6 or 6-7 and had a mean reputation. The Packers were a little concerned about him going in to the game as he played opposite 6 foot guard Fuzzy Thurston for the Packers (love that name). Davidson sacked Starr early in the game. As the Packers offense was about to go in to the huddle after that play Starr, who was a QB of few words, pulled Thurston aside and reportedly got up close to Fuzzy, looked him in the eyes and said quite firmly "don't let that happen again". Thurston, who was a bit startled by Starr's reaction, didn't let his larger opponent get anywhere close to Starr the rest of the game.(Thurston I believe at the end of his career went in to the Hall of Fame.). Not sure where I read this but may have been in Kramer's book. [Post edited by lazarus1 at 05/27/2019 5:42PM]
