Justin Fuente...

I'd say the other three have done admirable jobs (and I long said that those who thought Mendenhall were a joke were going to be surprised). But you can't dismiss what Fuente has done before VT.

At Memphis, he took a sad sack CUSA program and had them as one of the top AAC programs in four years. So he took over a program that was bad in one league and made them one of the best in a MUCH better league by the time he was gone.

He came to a Virginia Tech program that had fallen on mediocrity and immediately elevated it back to a 10 win season. Now as Beamer's recruiting in the last couple years has caught up and the talent is way down, we're feeling the pain (under Beamer, this bunch probably goes 3-9 last year). But FAR too much is being made of one data point for Fuente and the whole body of work is being ignored.

Similarly, far too much is being made of one data point on Babers. I think he's a good coach, but they were set up for success last year.
