I can't think of any other Hokie footballer that was so important that I would write to the NCAA chief and beg for his eligibility (of course there was no need to write for Vick because he had no transfer issue, etc). If Hoffman has to sit for a year, he gets a year of education, both classroom and football, he's closer to his mom, he gets the education for free and he will have time later to play ball. I wish that I could have transferred to VT from somewhere else and receive a tuition-free year while I waited for the chance to get two more years tuition-free. Sure would have saved me years of repaying college loans so that I could buy a house and other big ticket items instead. But, I'm not a huge guy who plays football either.
