No the elite programs don't.

We have had to completely rebuild with huge entering classes the past three years. The cupboard was so bare that we had to play true freshman and redshirt freshmen in key positions. They would show some promise and expect to be three and four year starters. But they didn't have the talent to do that so we continued to recruit better athletes. We did that three times since 2004; Royal, Harper, Morgan, and Hyman; Coale, Boykin, and Roberts; Ford, Hodges and Phillips. Between these classes we struggled. We have to layer classes in at 17-20 players each year to get to 85 scholarships. Its the same way with other positions. Guys who should be learning the ropes from seniors and playing on special teams are starting. We are going to have another crop entering the portal this year for the same reason. I played last year and where is my PT. Basketball under Greenberg and Buzz had the same problem. they build teams not programs.
