That flies out of Roanoke. Most of the time it doesn't make much of a difference unless you have some kind of specific time demand. It also depends on where you are going, where you are connecting through, date, day of the week, time of day, when the reservation was made, etc. Back in the day, ROA would be 50% higher or more as nearby airports. Those days appear gone. In the past 5 years I have opted to fly out of Dulles a few times, but that was a layover decision, not price. I actually had a couple of overseas flights come in cheaper at ROA than Dulles. Go figure.
Also, if you are flying out of ROA on a direct flight, you are going to Chicago, DC, Atlanta or New York. Anything else requires a connection and will always be more expensive.
