Your post shows little understanding.
of Buzz, the VT situation, or college athletics. First, the most important point is that football, outside of a very few places not named Duke, UNC and UK, is the absolute lifeblood of any Division 1 athletic program that hopes to be financially stable and competitive in multiple sports and "letting anyone coach football" is a very good way to torpedo an entire athletic program right out of the gate. Second, Buzz was never a long term solution and a large amount of money was not going to change that fact. Buzz is a great coach with a limited shelf life. He is smart and recognizes this, which is the source of his observation that he feels the real shelf life of a coach is 6-7 years. He might go slightly longer at A&M because he is close to home but, Buzz needs the challenge of a new environment to energize him and, as important, to ensure that he does not suck the entire life out of the one he is currently operating in. Finally, Buzz did a fantastic job at VT but, even the most loyal fan base eventually tires of the "will he go or will he stay" routine and VT would have been no different.
