FSU was just taking a play out of Auburn's playbook

Gene Chizik's record at Iowa State was 5-19 (2-14 in the Big XII) after 2 seasons before Auburn hired him. In his 4 seasons at Auburn, Chizik had a winning record in 3 of the seasons (winning at least 8 games), won the National Championship in his second season, and was 3-0 in bowl games. FSU figured "If Auburn could do it, then why not us?" and so they hired Taggart.
