If Whit isn't listening to Hokie fans, I hope he's at least talking to former players. I got the chance to tailgate with a few this weekend and it was upsetting. If you weren't around in the early 90s I guess you don't have the perspective of building what Frank built, organically, against the headwinds of the Big East, against talented Miami teams, with no money. Frank _earned_ the VT fanbase with the product on the field. The money and fans didn't come first. Now, we've got it backwards. Our marketing and hype has outpunted the coverage. We're the softest team in the ACC. I think that fanbase just conceded this weekend and this is new territory for VT football. The people that have been buying season tickets, making roadtrips to support the team at home and away, raising their kids and grandkids in the tradition of VT football, and who spend a lot of money - are walking away.
